![]() If it's a story-based adventure game, most of the time I won't consult a walkthrough until I'm trying to get all the collectables or something. I think it's something that varies from game to game. What is your opinion on walkthroughs? Do you write them, use them or stay away from them at all cost? Sure there is some satisfaction with solving something without help, but only up to a point where you just simply want to get going. Maybe many modern games do not need a walkthrough as much, many games are so much "on rails" that you can hardly go in the wrong direction, but even so I don't mind reading walkthroughs or look at Youtube playthrough videos to get past a difficult section, so I can continue the game and experience as much as possible of the game that the developers have created. Following a guide tp those games is much more fun because I get to see much more of the game that I otherwise would have. Like everything else, to each their own and all that, but for example I have been playing some old school text adventures and point and click adventures, and I very quickly loose interest if I try to figure out every puzzle. I often hear that something along the lines that using walkthroughs is almost cheating and you should figure out everything yourself or else you are not a "real" gamer - or at least just a stupid one. However, it seems that the actual use of walkthroughs is not as well respected. Walkthroughs have almost always been part of the gaming community and looking at some of them at GameFAQs - it is really amazing how much work some gamers put into making them. ![]()
